In this class we will enjoy working together with pastels and pastel pencils to create art from photographs or digital images of their favorite animals. Artists can set their own pace, and at the end of the class you will have one or more beautiful and unique pictures to display and of which to be proud. We will learn: How to use the grid system to aid in transferring the image to paper. Composition and drawing skills. Techniques of pastels and pastel pencils How to critique your work Materials list: - An image or images you would like to work from. - Pastel set - Pastel Pencils set - Paper: Acid-free; single sheets or pads preferably pastel paper or Canson Mi-tientes; can be different colors and values. Size can be your preference, but 11 x 14 or 12 x 16 are nice sizes to work with. - Rigid Drawing board surface (can be foamcore, masonite, matboard, etc.) - Masking or painters tape to attach paper to drawing board - Pencil - White “Moo” eraser, kneaded eraser - Ruler (18 inches is best) - Matte Fixative spray: Acid-free workable fixative (Sennielier Pastel spray is preferred) - Foam blenders - Paper towels - Other materials as needed or preferred.
